Hybrid's masterful "Wide Angle" is a very successful attempt at the old problem of how to make electronic dance music "emotional" or "human". They utilize heart-tugging and epic string arrangements as well as several female vocalists (inc. Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders) to give several tracks a very warm vibe. After a brief intro, the beats kick in on "If i survive", a song with both menace and hope. The breaks are furious and varied, so you will keep dancing throughout. Instrumentals such as "Beachcoma" and "Snyper" are destined to tear up the dancefloor, but unlike a lot of EDM, these have heart. By the time "Theme from Wide Angle" and "Finished Symphony" roll around, with their many crescendos, you will be convinced that this is a classic, almost conceptual electronic album. Simply Excelent !
